Teckids workshops at FrOSCon9 – robots, python games and Blender

More than 60 kids from 9 to 13 participated at this years FrogLab workshops at FrOSCon in Sankt Augustin, Germany. The demand was so high that many interested kids had to be rejected as the group would have gotten too big to ensure that they’d be supervised responsibly.

As announced, the FSFE supported the project [...]

Started to prepare for !FOSDEM 2013 !fsfe

As I already wrote in the edu-team summary for 2012, I will be going to FOSDEM. It seems that the program is not entirely ready yet, but there are not enough education related talks for my taste. Well, on the other hand, the whole event is about educating hackers, right?

Free Software in education: January – February 2011

Time for edu news again. The draft of the mission statement for the edu team kept me busy the last two months and will continue to do so for a little while. If you have a few minutes at hand, please read it and send us any feed back you might have!

Before we come [...]

Free Software in education: October – December 2010

Here’s a little summary again of what I found noteworthy in the field of Free Software in education in the last few months of this year in no particular order:

After Sam Tuke informed the edu-eu mailinglist about (k)mando recently, it was quickly put into a debian paket by Georges Khaznadar from OFSET. I’m still [...]

FreeDroidz workshop with tarent

Not too long ago, I mentioned a workshop with FreeDroidz in this blog. I heard about these robots before, saw them at fairs and haven’t known much about our host, except that they are the sponsor of the Fellowship grant. Matthias asked me if I was interested in leading such a work shop at schools [...]
