New Online Editor and new pages

Some of you will notice that there is a new feature in the portal: a WYSIWYG editor for news, events and also articles. eZ Systems has released its Online Editor under the GNU GPL and we have soon implemented it on fsfe.org. We hope you appreciate the effort.

There are also two new items on the navigation menu: a FAQ to start addressing the concerns of Fellows regarding the portal, and a page for the external supporters of the Fellowship, companies and groups that have contributed to the Fellowship in significant forms.

Planet Fellowship now fully operational

The long awaited aggregation of all blog entries by the Fellows of FSFE is available on Planet. There are also RSS feeds in version 1 and 2. The work was done by Fellow Alejandro and the finishing touches were done during the eZ Publish workshop at the First International Meeting of Fellows in Bolzano with the help of Ekke

The aggregator was one of the most requested feature of the site and now that it's solved, all development team can move to the next step. During the Fellowship meeting many Fellows suggested to implement some features to enhance interaction between Fellows in the same region, to facilitate face to face meetings. We will work on it, that's for sure.

Information on how to reach Bolzano and special deals for accomodation and food are online on this website.

The train station is Bolzano/Bozen (without other extensions).

Don't forget to look at the interactive map to get an idea of where to go for hotel/hostel and the conference venue once in Bolzano.

Spam with spam covered with spam

This means also that the first time you receive an email from somebody, there will be a delay in delivery (usually around 30 minutes, depending on the configuration of the sending email host). Afterwards email will go through immediately.

We hope this will be an acceptable price to pay for people to push back on the flood of spam that we've seen in the past week in particular. Some of us were simply drowning.

New 'Event' system

Fellow Alejandro Serrano helped improve the event system by installing and customizing an agenda-like extension. Other feature are being added, next one will be the anti-spam system to enable anonymous comments to the blogs.

Pardus 1.1 hit alpha

After the successful 1.0 Distro, Pardus developers published the alpha ISO of the 1.1. version. I gave it a try yesterday, as usual on my test system. The look & feel effect is very fine and I am happy to see that even in alpha, the system is very stable. Well done people! Greetings meren.
