Hi Fellows,

As I am a candidate for the general assembly of the FSFE, I invite all members of the FSFE to join our chat session on tomorrow evening at 20:30 and ask Torsten, Michel, Björn and me some questions.
For more informations, on how to join the session, have a look at mk’s blog post.
Read you there.

Hi there,
I have some good news from the pdfreaders.org front.
Hannes gave an interview to a guy from the dpa (Deutsche Presse-Agentur) about alternatives to the Adobe Reader. The dpa is a news source for nearly all german newspapers.
The result is that we are mentioned on the following sites:
bild.de - Die besten PDF-Programme spiegel.de - Es muss nicht immer Adobe sein
http://www.teltarif.de/pdf-reader-adobe-alternativen/news/34121.html?page=2 http://www.sueddeutsche.de/computer/105/467676/text/2/ http://www.manager-magazin.de/it/artikel/0,2828,623090-2,00.html http://www.n24.de/news/newsitem_5031909.html http://www.netzeitung.de/internet/computer/1348220.html
The bad news is that only one of these newspapers linked to pdfreaders.org or to the FSFE site.
As we contacted some of the authors, bild.de added a link to both of our sites. A big thanks for that!

Hannes, the second coordinator of pdfreaders.org compared our google ranking with some keywords he search for. The results are quite good for the beginning:
As you can see we are not found in the first 100 hits with the keywords “pdf viewer”, so if you want to help us you do have two opportunities:
1. Blog about pdfreaders.org and use the keywords that we need 😉
2. Write webmasters of big or small sites and please them to use our sexy buttons instead of the “Get Adobe Reader”-buttons.
Thanks for your help and happy hacking,
HennR
Hey there, fellow fellows!
pdfreaders.org has great success at the moment. We are available in 15 languages now, because more and more people form all over the world participate in your site.
That makes me feel happy, and supports my work on this campaign, thanks all you people out there!
Another point I want to talk about is our ongoing success in the media. We got some attention with our press release [0], and lately got a big push by the technical director Mikko Hypponen of F-Secure [1].
The hits of our site have reached a level 15 times higher than before we got recommended by F-Secure!
A big thanks for that, too!
Here is a collection of popular sites we have been posted on:
1: heise.de -Antivirenhersteller rät vom Einsatz des Adobe Reader ab
2: fsdaily.org -FSFE launches free PDF readers campaign
4: slashdot # 2 – F-Seucre and pdfreaders.org
6: cnet.com – F-Secure related
7: Pressetext: Initiative für freie pdf-Reader gestartet
8: Der Standard: Initiative für freie pdf-Reader gestartet
9: Pro Linux: Initiative für freie PDF-Reader gestartet
10: ORF futurezone: FSFE-Initiative für freie PDF-Reader
And last but not least, a list of sites that links us, with our buttons:

Please feel free to contact me if you also want to get listed there, or if you know a site that links.
So long,
HennR
The technical director of the F-Secure anti-virus vendor recommended at the RSA Conference to use alternatives to the Adobe Reader for security reasons.
The interesting point is that he did not recommend a specific reader, but pointed the listeners to pdfreaders.org!
This is a pretty good PR for us, and shows that it’s always good to have an alternative!

So this is my brand new FSFE blog 😉
I will post FSFE related informations here, and what’s going on at the genereal assembly if I should become the first fellow in there.
I will also try to keep you up-to-date about “my” pdfreaders.org campaign.
Greetings from Berlin,
HennR
