Newspaper “Die Zeit”: Wistleblower software published as Free Software

“Die Zeit”, Germany’s biggest weekly newspaper, introduced a “digitalpostbox”, which enables people to leak documents to the newspaper. They publishedthis as Free Software, so everybody can use, study, share, and improve it.

First the software makes the data anonymous, by removing metadata andother information from the files. Then the GnuPG encrypted data will besent to the journalists, who will check the information, and see if theymake a story out of it. The software also provides a kind of anonymouspostbox, to interact with the the wistleblower.
