EURO2012 in FS qualification – on razor’s edge

razor's edge by kholkute (cc-by-sa)

The last matches in March took place today. Things can change quickly and as we just learned a few days ago, a former “loser” can turn into a group winner. As of today, every single country still has the theoretical chance to make it into the finals. But after [...]

EURO2012 in Free Software qualification – Latvia catching up

Baltic Sea waterfront / Ventspils, Latvia (cc-by-sa by anjči)

After the EURO2012 in Free Software continued yesterday, we have twelve other matches to look at today. Israel vs. Latvia was especially interesting because Latvia caught up just recently and was able to beat the best country in this group so far. Thus, chances are [...]

EURO2012 in Free Software qualification – March 25

After a few months pause, the qualification for our EURO 2012 in Free Software will keep me busy for the next few days. The results of today’s matches can be found in this posting. Any comment is welcome.

Austria vs. Belgium again: no changes here. The funny [...]

EURO2012 in Free Software – Look East!

The wiki pages for our little tournament have just been updated according to the latest results. Sorry for the delay, oher things pushed this task further down in my ToDo list, but now it’s done.

Since we have to wait until March 25, 2011 for any further [...]

EURO 2012 in FS – qualification day #8

Croatia fan truck by by Alison Ratcliffe (cc-by-2.0)

The last two qualification matches of this year took place today:

Finland vs. San Marino 2:0 (well, in soccer they won 8:0!)

This was easy since we have no entries for San Marino in our wiki.

Croatia vs. Malta 2:1

But this was a tough decision [...]

Euro 2012 in Free Software – qualification day #7 Moules Frites vs. Sachertorte

Here are todays results of our EURO 2012 in Free Software and open standards. This time, I found the match Belgium vs. Austria the most challenging.

Moules Frites (cc by-sa 2.0)

Sachertorte (cc by-sa 3.0)

It looks easy considering only the public administration page where we have the following:

In Vienna, they [...]

!Euro2012fs in Free Software qualification – results of day 6

Another day in our own little EURO 2012 qualification. Only two matches today:

Group D: France vs. Romania 5:2

Group F: Israel vs. Croatia 3:1

I won’t bother to update the tables in the wiki until Tuesday, when the next games are due. Many teams will play for the last time this year on Tuesday. [...]

Euro 2012 qualification day #5 and the sick man of Europe

Another qualification day for the EURO2012 in Free Software with proposed results.

sick man (cc-by 2.0)

FSFE president Karsten Gerloff recently wrote a blog post about the situation in the UK. He writes “Britain is the sick man of Europe in terms of Free Software adoption.” The results below agree with this. I think [...]

Euro 2012 qualification day 4 -day 2 actually…

While preparing the posting for next week for the Euro 2012, I found out that I missed one match on Sep 2nd: Group C: Israel vs. Malta.

I’m pretty sure that it wasn’t listed on the UEFA page, because I remember checking it three times for the date, that my own list was lacking. I [...]

EURO 2012 qualification day 3

Another day of the qualification of the UEFA EURO 2012 in regards to Free Software usage and Open Standards came to its end. Most interesting to me was the match Norway vs. Portugal. On the wiki page for public administration, Portugal looks much weaker than Norway, but we have a lot of good news from [...]
