ECI & Social Networks

We’ve heard a lot about the impact of social networks on the arab spring [1]. And we’we also heard a lot about the EU’s democratic deficit, ‘Euro-indifference’ of Citizens.

Now it seems that we are one step closer to the solution as a partnering is taking place among Social Network platforms and EU institutions according to EurActiv.com.

However the partnering won’t totally solve the lack of interest in the topic of EU Affairs, which still needs to be made ‘sexy’ out of the ‘Brussels bubble’. (not everyone has a European Studies background đŸ˜‰ ) The strength of these platforms is obviously that instead of imposing a topic on people, they ‘let’ the people choose the topic they’re interested about.

Still curious about how FS versions such as for example Diaspora or other distributed social network will fit into this picture.
